POSITION: Mechanical Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Perform engineering duties to design, develop, test and prototype new product ideas involving mechanical components and systems. Design and develop electrooptical instrumentation components for measuring cloud droplets, diesel, gasoline direct injection, and gas turbine sprays. Assist in the design and development of laser induced incandescence (LII) instruments for measuring particulate emissions, namely, soot from various combustion sources. Monitor the manufacturing of these components, organize instrument production, and test these electrooptical instruments.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or foreign educational equivalent.

EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or foreign educational equivalent followed by at least five years progressive experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Design Engineering.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Experience with
1) designing and development of mounting assemblies for optical elements; 2) laboratory optics (breadboard) and optic measurements; and 3) DFA and DFM experience for optomechanical assemblies required.
